I came across this African luxury jewellery brand Joansu and immediately got my attention as it involves candy and jewellery. Launched in October 2011 by Adjoa, Joansu is a brand that doesn’t just make beautiful designs but lets her pieces do the talking, telling it’s own stories through journeys, memories and magical encounters. For SS13, Joansu has created a candy coloured theme titled Eye Candy featuring bangles, earrings, rings and necklaces. The core colour palette consists of fuchsia pink, yellow, red and turquoise. The collection is divided into three categories:
This fuchsia pink set features delicate pink lace inspired by elegant traditional weddings of beautiful brides in Lagos and made from Ankara and resin. I love how she mixed the two materials together to create something totally new and different. It’s something that I would never thing that could work together and Joansu made this possible.
The bright yellow colour is playful and fun for summer that will bring happiness into your jewellery collection. Each Swarovski is delicately placed on the cuff and inspired by the beach and Lagos bling.
Last but not least is Cosmic Girl which features a bold turquoise base with red swirled Ankara finished off with Swarovski crystals inspired by dancing in the wind.
